Outdoor Learning
At Warden House, we strongly believe that outdoor learning is the right of every child and, as a result, should be a part of all teachers' professional practise. We use outdoor learning when it best suits the curriculum and the intended learning – it isn’t a once a week, separately timetabled and somehow extra to any other learning. It is an integral part of many of our curriculum areas.
It is very much a case of don’t do more, do different…
We are very lucky to have extensive grounds at Warden House and have developed these to include:
-
A pond and wildlife zone
-
A large and expansive woodland area
-
A wellbeing garden
-
30-seat outdoor classroom
-
Allotments
All of these areas are used by staff to enhance the curriculum on offer at Warden House.
We are currently working with the company "Learning through landscapes" to help us refine our school curriculum to enable use of the outdoors as much as possible.
