Our School Uniform

At Warden House Primary School, we believe that school uniform should be practical, comfortable and affordable for all families.

We have recently updated our uniform policy in line with the latest government guidance, which encourages schools to reduce the number of compulsory branded items and limit the number of uniform items that need to be purchased from a single supplier.

Our uniform changes are being introduced gradually. There is no need for families to replace uniform that is already being worn. Children can continue to wear their existing uniform until it needs replacing. This includes second-hand uniform and hand-me-downs from older siblings.

Everyday Uniform

Children should wear:

• White shirt or polo shirt – either long or short sleeved. This can be purchased from supermarkets and high street retailers.

• Navy sweatshirt or cardigan – either plain or with the Warden House Primary School logo.

• Grey or black trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore.

• Blue and white gingham summer dress during the summer months.

• White, grey or black socks – these should be plain and unbranded.

• Black or grey tights.

• Plain black footwear.

Ties are no longer required, however if you still wish for your child to wear a tie, they can be purchased from the school office for £4.00 each.

PE Kit

Our PE uniform has also been simplified to help make it more affordable.

Children should have:

• Navy PE shorts or jogging bottoms.

• A round-neck T-shirt in their allocated team colour. This can be a breathable sports T-shirt purchased from our school uniform supplier, or a plain, unbranded T-shirt from a supermarket or high street retailer. A school logo is optional.

• Navy hoodie for colder weather.

• All PE kit should be plain and unbranded, although school-branded items can be worn if preferred.

Children no longer need a PE polo style t-shirt.

Swimming Kit

When taking part in swimming lessons, children need:

• Goggles
• Boys: Swimming trunks / shorter style swimming shorts
• Girls: Swimsuits (Bikinis or Tankinis should not be worn)
• Towel 
• Swim bag
• Swimming hats are optional

Branded Uniform

School-branded uniform is optional where the policy allows for a plain alternative.

Branded items are available from The Schoolwear Centre

Standard, non-branded uniform items are widely available from supermarkets and high street retailers.

Second-Hand Uniform

We encourage families to make use of second-hand uniform wherever possible. This is a great way to keep costs down and make use of uniform that is still in good condition.

Our PTFA holds second-hand uniform sales throughout the year, before and after school outside the school office.

The school office also keeps a small selection of second-hand uniform, which is available in exchange for a small donation.

We are very happy for children to continue wearing second-hand uniform and hand-me-downs from older brothers and sisters.

Keeping Uniform Affordable

We understand that the cost of school uniform can be a significant expense for families. Our updated uniform policy is designed to give families more choice and make it easier to purchase everyday uniform items from a range of affordable retailers.

Please remember that you do not need to replace your child's current uniform because of these changes. Existing uniform can continue to be worn until it needs replacing.

Jewellery

For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery to school, with an exception being made for small earring studs in pierced ears and small objects of religious  significance. However, we do ask children to remove these objects during PE lessons and games.

Hairstyles

Children should not come to school with dyed hair, shaved designs in their hair, Mohican or Mohawk 
styles. Accessories, such as hairbands, should be black, grey, navy or royal blue and therefore in line with school uniform colours
